Phacelia is a cover crop that has been rising in popularity in recent years.

Phacelia is know best as a pollinator. It's an excellent source of nectar and pollen and is know to increase beneficial insect populations. 

However, it's also an excellent soil conditioner. It has fibrous roots that can penetrate up to 30 inches deep. It also grows up to 4 feet tall and will survive temperatures as low as 20 degrees.
